First Lady, Polish ambassador mark Wojtyla centre anniversary
Budapest, October 14 (MTI) – The founders of a centre named after Karol Wojtyla in Kecskemet, in central Hungary, have created a unique institution ten years ago, First Lady Anita Herczegh said at an anniversary event on Wednesday.
The founders were inspired by the message of Pope John Paul II to promote humanity and friendship, Herczeg said before laying wreaths on the Pope’s bust in front of the building and inaugurating a memorial plaque in the company of Polish Ambassador Roman Kowalski.
Founder and director Jozsef P Farkas said that the Wojtyla Friendship Centre functions as a charity, offering a community space and providing free meals to 120 poor people each day.
