It’s official: Putin visit to Budapest on October 30
Hungary’s foreign minister discussed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official visit to Hungary scheduled for October 30 with his Russian counterpart in New York on Wednesday.
Speaking to MTI after his talks with Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Péter Szijjártó said they had acknowledged that Russia had fully completed its earlier commitment to ensure Hungary’s gas supply for next year.
The minister said the sides were also ready to discuss gas supplies beyond 2020.
Szijjártó added they had also agreed that preparations for the expansion of Hungary’s sole nuclear power plant at Paks would be able to proceed according to schedule.
He said they had also finalised agreements to be signed on social security and on cooperation in oncology during Putin’s visit.
Szijjártó said they had also agreed that Hungary and Russia would coordinate their efforts to aid Christians in the Middle East.
