Diplomatic Fair 2019 was a huge success in Budapest! – PHOTOS
On 24 November 2019, Diplomatic Spouses of Budapest successfully organized the biggest charity event of the year the 9th Diplomatic Fair 2019.
As the organizers said, more than 54 countries represented by their embassies in this charity event, came together once again to showcase their nation’s specialities – from crafts and souvenirs to food and drinks – enabling visitors to “travel and enjoy the world in one day”!
Patron of the Fair, Mrs. Anita Herczegh, spouse of the President of Hungary was present at the official opening Ceremony.
Albanian soprano Mrs. Alisa Katroshi started the ceremony by singing the beautiful Hungarian song Tavaszi szel.
H.E. Apostolic Nuncio Michael August Blume, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps the guest of Honor conveyed very good wishes and asked God’s blessing on this day so that the many contacts between various cultures and nations may give to all participants a deep spirit of joy and belonging, and to all who benefit from the activities, a deeper sense of being known and loved. May God bring this good work to a happy conclusion.
Mrs. Elda Spasse, President of Diplomatic Spouses of Budapest and Spouse of the Albanian Ambassador to Hungary, emphasized that teamwork made the event possible.
The team with representatives of different countries is a proof that -we all together can make a difference.
All proceeds of the Diplomatic Fair 2019 will be donated to the following Hungarian charities: Awakenings Foundation (Ébredések Alapítvány) , Symphonia Foundation (Symphonia Alapítvány)- represented also with performance on the Fair, Women League Hungary (Női Liga), The Protective Charity Society (Oltalom Karitatív Egyesület).
More than 1,700 visitors over 18 years old with their shopping contributed to raise over 32 thousands euros, (11 000 000 HUF). This will allow DSB to give more support to those in need.
For the first time, a Hungarian booth was presence at the Fair. Mrs. Anita Herczegh, spouse of the President of Hungary visited the Hungarian National Stall and the three Charities present with a stand on the Fair. She met with the representatives of the foundations supporting sick, disadvantaged, disabled and vulnerable children and families and also thanked all the diplomatic community for the great job done to raise funds to benefit communities and causes in Hungary.
Madam Mrs. Szilvia Szijjártó-Nagy, spouse of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade visited the Diplomatic Fair 2019 and was the organizer of the Hungarian National Stall. She attended the Hungarian Fashion show which was part of the Fair Entertainment program.
Ambassadors of Diplomatic Corp were present during the opening ceremony, working during the Fair and supporting DSB for this big event organized only by volunteers of DSB members, in partnership with Intercontinental Hotel.
So many beautiful performances from Russia, Bulgaria, Argentina, Albania, Azerbaijani, Serbia, Nigeria, Cyprus, India and Indonesia. Another interesting part of the entertainment program was the performance by the Hungarian Symfonia Foundation. This foundation is one of the four charities to be supported by DSB.
Special corner was just for the children and much more fun with small and big raffle prices.
