The service quality of the Budapest Airport is among Europe’s top ones
The Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport started to use a lot of digital developments in the last 12 months. Thanks to these, passengers can receive much more comfortable and safer services than ever before.
2019 was the year of digital innovation at the airport of Budapest. Budapest Airport, the company running the facilities there introduced a lot of technical developments following the trends of automation and self-service. Therefore, passengers can become part of the processes affecting them. For example, they can individually register their luggage, and they can do the boarding, as well – travelo.hu reported.
Since in March a new security line was inaugurated, security check capacities grew by 15 pc. Furthermore, the introduction of a new technique makes it possible to check laptops, tablets, other electronic devices or even hair dryers
without taking them out of the bags.
After the recent development, the Budapest Airport is in the top among the other European airports. Even though many passengers demand it, this technological novelty is only used at the Budapest airport in Central and Eastern Europe.

The company started to test its self-service luggage register system this year. Wizz Air allows its passengers to print and place their luggage labels. After which the tag is successfully scanned, they can individually post their luggage. Since the system is very popular, the Budapest Airport plans to place more label printing machines and, therefore, it is continuously negotiating with the different airways about expanding the system.
The company placed 4K information panels at the terminals
which is unique even in Europe.
Such panels are everywhere and guide all passengers from even the parking lots and bus stops allowing them to access all the necessary information about their flights. They can even tell where the queue is shorter so one can get through the airport security check quicker. Currently, the company is testing its automated flight announcing system.
In cooperation with the National Police Headquarters, the Budapest Airport placed 12
automated passport control gates
at many terminals of the airport. These allow the passengers to scan their passports individually, and the system automatically does the necessary control.
New, automated boarding gates were introduced in November able to board a plane in only 8 minutes. Passengers should only scan their boarding passes (print or electronic), and the system checks them in just a couple of seconds. Since the system was started, there have been no mistakes, so the Budapest Airport plans to place more of such gates in the future.
