They are the best Hungarian athletes!
Both in categories of men and women, swimmers were chosen as sportspeople of the year at the 62nd Hungarian Sportspeople of the Year Gala.
HVG reported that Katinka Hosszú received the title for the 7th time in her career, which is a tie with the legendary Hungarian swimmer, Krisztina Egerszegi. Alongside Hosszú, Kristóf Milák was also given the title for his amazing achievement at the World Championships, breaking Michael Phelps’s record.

The ceremony was held at the National Theatre of Budapest, and 399 votes decided which sportspeople earned the title.
In the category of trainers, Zsolt Varga received the title for training the men’s water polo team of Ferencváros. The title of the best sports team was also given to Ferencváros, and in the category of individuals, Tímea Babos tennis player won the title. The title of the football player of the year went to Péter Gulácsi, and in the category of women, it was won by Zsanett Jakabfi.

The goal of the year title was given to Dániel Zsóri who also won the precious Puskás Award for his achievement.

In the category of sportspeople with disabilities, trainer of the Vasas swimming team Álmos Szabó, kayaker Pál Péter Kiss, and athlete Luca Ekler were given the title.
At the ceremony, the sportspeople were awarded in 14 different categories, and 178 performers entertained the guests between two awards. As a part of the celebration, the participants of the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo were also present.
