What worries Hungarians the most in 2020?
The world started 2020 very pessimistically: 61 pc of those asked think things in their country are on the wrong track. Poverty and social inequality are in the first place for global concern with 34 pc saying this.
According to the results of the international opinion poll of Ipsos, the Chinese were the most satisfied about how things are in their country, followed by India and Saudi-Arabia, 24 reported. Hungary is on the negative end of the list,
72 pc of Hungarians say that things are on the wrong track there.
People could choose three topics they find the most worrisome in their country. On a global scale, 34 pc chose poverty and social inequality, 31 pc said unemployment is the most worrisome issue in their country, and 30 pc mentioned crime and violence. In fourth place were financial and political corruption while in the fifth, there was healthcare. Interestingly, terrorism worries only 10 pc of the people, while childhood obesity or the difficulty of accessing credit were mentioned by only 2-3 pc of the people.

Worrying because of poverty and social inequality reached the highest points in Russia (60 pc), Chile (55 pc), and Hungary (52 pc), which is a 9 pc rise in the case of Hungary compared to the previous month. Americans worry the least about poverty, but the problem occupies the minds of a quarter of them even there. Interestingly,
only 11 pc of Hungarians worry about losing their job.
Hungarians worry most because of the healthcare system of the county. 76 pc of them said that they were anxious because of it, while the global average is only 27 pc. Poland is in second place in this respect, with only 55 pc. Furthermore, the pessimism regarding the issue in Hungary rose by 8 pc compared to the month before. People worry about the healthcare system the least in South Korea (4 pc) and Turkey (3 pc).
In Hungary,
49 pc of the people worry because of financial and political corruption,
32 pc because of the state of the education system, 18 pc because of the moral decline in society, 11 pc because of immigration control, 11 pc because of crime and violence, and only 8 pc worry about climate change. Taxes concern only 5 pc of Hungarians, and this rate is 4, 4, and 2 pc respectively in the case of threats against the environment, the rise of extremism, and terrorism.
Regarding the methodology, Ipsos said that the survey is conducted monthly in 28 countries around the world via the Ipsos Online Panel system. In the 17 more developed countries surveyed, internet penetration is high enough for
the samples to be qualified as representative.
Meanwhile, in states like Brazil, Chile, China, India, Malaysia, Mexico, or Russia, where internet penetration is lower, the samples should not be considered
nationally representative. Instead, they represent the more affluent and connected part of society.
