Coronavirus – Hungary reports 2583 cases of COVID-19, with 280 deaths
A further eight elderly patients, all of whom had underlying illnesses, died in hospital after contracting Covid-19, bringing the number of deaths to 280 in Hungary, while the number of registered infections has increased by 83 to 2,583, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Monday morning.
Fully 498 hospitalised Covid-19 patients have made a recovery, while 931 are still in hospital, 52 of whom are on ventilators.
Hospitals nationwide are increasing bed capacity in preparation for the phase of mass illnesses.
Currently 9,829 people are officially in home quarantine. The number of officially accredited tests stands at 65,625.
Hungary is still in the stage in which the infection is spread in the community through personal contact.
Budapest tops the table in terms of the number of infections (1,286 people),
followed by Pest County (352), Fejér county (263) and Győr-Moson-Sopron county (76). Békés County has the fewest (14).
