Coronavirus – This is how the restrictions change from Monday
Hungary’s schools will stay closed in May, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office told an online press conference on Thursday, adding that the government will make a decision concerning June at a later date.
Concerning other government decisions, Gergely Gulyás said that free parking will be maintained across the country.
- Coronavirus – Further 12 patients die, number of infected rises to 2,775
- Budapest Airport slowly restarts passenger services!
He argued that the measure has not brought about a significant increase in traffic, and has helped people avoid using public transport.
A ban on holding public events with more than 500 participants will stay in effect until August 15, Gulyás said.
The government has decided to lift curfew measures and introduce more lenient regulations outside Budapest and Pest County, he said, but warned that preventive measures should continue to be observed.
As some 70 percent of the infected are in the capital city and Pest County, it is justified to keep curfew restrictions in force in these regions, he added.
Life can be restarted gradually, in line with a strict schedule, with geographical differences in the level of coronavirus infections taken into account, Gulyás said.
The safety of the elderly, the most endangered age group, should remain a priority, he said.
Gulyás also said that testing would be obligatory for all patients leaving or entering hospital and for the staff of elderly care homes.
He said that Hungary’s health care system is prepared to handle even mass infections.

Applaudable Recognition to Prime Minister – Victor Orban and His Government and to the Mayor of Budapest – Karacsony Gergely, in there exemplary manner they are handling this novel coronvirus pandemic.
Pleased that after consideration of ALL factors, heavily focused on Medical Science Data, that parts of our blessed and beautiful country are being partially opened up.
Totally support, residing in District V, the retainment of life-style restrictions currently in place.
Stay Well – ALL.
There is no mentioning about “restriction change” whatsoever. Everything in Budapest remains to be enforced. There is only a mentioning of gradually making restrictions outside of Budapest more “lenient”, but there is no mentioning of what this then entails!? It would be appreciated if the details of these apparent changed restrictions can be communicated.
Jeff I agree with you. This news is very superficial.
And mainly all the news in this website are not very detailed. Unfortunately for the non-hungarian speakers, we do not have many sources to get the news in English.
Please take into to consideration this critic and think about giving more detailed news, because it would benefit both sides ours and yours with more views.
