Orbán: Hungary attributes special significance to relations with Russia

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed his best wishes to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on the occasion of Russia Day, a national holiday, on Friday, the prime minister’s press chief said.

Orbán said in a letter to Putin that “the fight against the novel coronavirus poses difficult challenges to all of us but our countries have been successful in protection over the recent months,” Bertalan Havasi said.

“My government attributes special significance to relations with the Russian Federation,” he added.

Orbán said he was pleased about the regular dialogue and diverse cooperation between Hungary and Russia and expressed hope to meet the Russian president in the near future and continue developing bilateral relations together.

Orbán assured Putin that Hungary would continue making every effort to further develop good relations and successful economic, trade, cultural, scientific and educational cooperation.

Orbán sent a similar letter to Mishustin, Havasi said.
