Hungarians feel safe in the rioting Uganda

Despite of the dangerous situation in Uganda, Mónika L. Novák and her husband, who have been living in Uganda for years with their children, decided not to leave the country and the HTCC (Hungarian Trade and Cultural Center) is still open, although they decided to stay inside the building and only leave if it’s absolutely necessary, globoport.hu reports.

Mónika and her family have prepared for the upcoming elections, because riots like these are more frequent around that time. The family has food and water supplies that could last for days, and they also contacted the Hungarian embassy in Kenya. If the situation gets worse the family will fall back to the embassy of the European Union.

The surroundings of the HTCC building are quiet and peaceful, only the trucks of the election campaign break the silence. Mónika’s biggest fear is that the authorities will cut off any kind of communication if the situation gets out of hand, because then they would be completely isolated from the world.
