Jobbik condemns Khojaly masscare and expresses condolences for the people of Azerbaijan

On the memorial day for the victims of the Armenian aggression committed against Azerbaijan and the 24th anniversary of the Khojaly massacre, Jobbik expresses solidarity with Azerbaijan.

Together with the Azeri people, we mourn the tragic anniversary of the day when Armenian armed forces attacked the city of Khojaly on February 26, 1992 and killed 613 fleeing civilians, including 83 children and 106 women.

The undeclared war known as the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict that has been going on since 1988 has claimed the lives of around 20 thousand Azeri victims thus far. Subsequent to the open military aggression, Armenian forces have driven at least 660 thousand Azeri citizens away from the occupied Azeri territories, conducting brutal ethnic cleansing in the area. Armenia still occupies nearly one fifth of the territory of Azerbaijan to this day.

Instead of a military agenda, Azerbaijan today urges a political solution in compliance with the decisions of several international organizations (UN Security Council, Council of Europe, OECD and the European Parliament). The objective is to achieve the withdrawal of the Armenian occupying forces, restore Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, enable the refugees to return home as well as ensure autonomy for Nagorno Karabakh within the borders of the country.

Jobbik condemns the Khojaly Massacre and the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan as well as supports Azerbaijan’s efforts to restore justice, solve the conflict and make a long-term peace. We demonstrate our solidarity with Azerbaijan and express our condolences for the Azeri people on this tragic anniversary.
