Hungarian local councils campaigning against EU migrant quotas
Budapest, March 11 (MTI) – Around 900 Hungarian local councils are preparing to campaign on behalf of the government’s drive to launch a referendum against the European Union’s migrant quota scheme, a Fidesz politician told public television channel M1 on Friday.
Máté Kocsis said the councils have declared their backing for the government’s migration policy and their leaders will agree on related tasks at a conference at the weekend.
He said the Brussels bureaucracy had provided a “meaningless and dangerous” response to the problem of mass migration into the bloc and that Hungarians have the right to decide “with whom we want to live together”.
