Connection between Hungarians and the Southern Urals confirmed

The Southern Urals is associated with the formation of many people. Year by year, scientists are finding more and more evidence that the Hungarian people once lived in this area. This theory has now been reaffirmed in the study of burial bone materials in the South Ural. In doing so, the identified haplotypes were compared with the haplotypes of the Hungarians living in antiquity times. The results were carried out by an international research team that also included researchers from the South Ural State University (SUSU). The study was published in a recognised journal, the Scientific Reports (Q1).

The ancient Hungarians lived in the Southern Urals. One of the main monuments of the ancient Hungarians was found in the Trans-Ural. This confirmed the theory that Hungarians may once have come from the Volga-Ural region, writes qswownews.com.

Scientists and archaeologists have been studying the Uelgi burial complex for more than 10 years. Numerous skeletal remains and associated tools, such as weapons, jewellery, and horse harnesses, were found in the burial area. The bone material and remains found in the Uelgi area and at the burial site in the Perm region were studied and compared. The aim of the researchers is to find and prove the genetic connection between the ancient Hungarians and their supposed ancestors.

“SUSU scientists were engaged in the empirical base, that is, the preparation of reports to provide data to the public and the collection of bone material. Our sample was the largest: 22 samples were presented. On their basis, a group of paleogeneticists from Hungary revealed the similarity of haplotypes with the population of Hungarians. At this stage, we have received new qualitative data that the history of the ancient Hungarians and the Right Hungarians is connected with the eastern regions,”

said research associate REC Eurasian studies Ivan Grudochko.

In the Hungarian laboratory, paleogenetics has identified different haplotypes, i.e. sets of forms of identical genes at the loci of chromosomes. These haplotypes can be traced, among others, to the Hungarian conquerors and to the remains found at the Uelgi burial site.

This phylogenetic relationship with common ancestors

is explained by scientists. However, the eastern component dividing the Hungarians and their Uralic ancestors has yet to be determined.

Work continues at the Uelgi burial sites. A new field was opened in order to research the problem of the ancient home of the Hungarians. Previously, it was thought that the migration line of people is composed of 4 links. By now, however, they have realised that it is much more complex. Therefore, data from other areas are also analysed and compared in the following stage.
