Deputy PM remembers late Polish President Lech Kaczynski
Budapest, April 8 (MTI) – The friendship between Hungary and Poland is just as relevant today as ever over the past one thousand years, Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén said in GyÅ‘r, in north-western Hungary, on Friday.
Speaking at a conference remembering the late Polish President Lech Kaczynski, Semjén said the time-tested Hungarian-Polish friendship expresses the unity between the two countries in supporting each other’s interests. This applies to the solidarity the two countries have shown one another in the handling of the migrant crisis as well as Hungary’s refusal to allow Brussels to apply double standards against Poland, he said.
The Hungarian and Polish people must continue to maintain and develop their centuries-old strong ties, Semjén said.
Conveying ruling Law and Justice party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski’s message to the conference’s attendees, Piotr Naimski, the head of the Poland-Hungary Parliamentary Friendship Group, said that the late president’s policies concerning Hungarians had always reflected the friendship between the two peoples.
