Katalin Kovács, the three-time Olympic champion kayaker wants to continue competitive
Three-time Olympic champion kayaker Katalin Kovács, who is expecting her first baby in June doesn’t exclude the possibility to compete at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016.
Speaking to Digi TV Sports Monday morning show, the 37-year-old 31-time world champion kayaker said she had all the intentions to continue her competitive career because she felt motivated and physically fit to reclaim her place in the Hungarian team.
“Nothing is impossible, I really like this sport. Do I compete in Rio? I can’t predict what will happen three years from now. One thing is certain. I don’t rule out my participation in the Olympics; today, I say this, it is more likely than not. It is very difficult to get qualified in the Hungarian team, I have to work hard to get back into the team, but I feel I can do it”- said Kovács.
Kovács also revealed that based on medical examinations she will have a baby girl who will be named Luca. She said she was in contact with her teammate Natasa Janics who gave birth to a baby girl in September 2011, and a few months later she made a competitive return.
