Extreme sports you should try in Hungary
Extreme sports you should try in Hungary:
- Wakesurfing: The first sport that you definitely need to try out in Hungary is wakesurfing. There are quite a few places in Hungary that you can try it out as well. Before you go out and buy a beginner wakesurf board, however, you should know that most of the equipment you should be able to easily rent and buying something like that when you are visiting another country is only going to encumber you. Wakesurfing is a little bit trickier than wakeboarding is, so you might want to try wakeboarding first, if you are just getting started.
- Wakeboarding: Just like with wakesurfing, you can wakeboard at several places throughout Hungary. There should be equipment rentals available as far as the boards go and there should also be boat rides that you can rent to take you out for a day. In Budapest, there are two popular locations where you can try out wakeboarding: Omszk and Lupa Lakes. There are services at both of these locations so that you will be sure to get what you need to get out on the water.
- Caving: Another extreme sport that you should try when you are in Hungary is caving. While there are many different caves around Budapest that are worth exploring, there is really only one that has an extreme tour. This includes climbing, crawling, and squeezing through small spaces. This cave is the Pàl-völgyi, which is the longest cave in the Buda Hills. It is the third-longest cave in the entire country and comes out at about 7,200 meters. The inside temperature of the cave is 11 degrees Celsius or about 52 degrees Fahrenheit, so you will need to be prepared for the coolness, even if you are going in on a hot summer day.
- Paragliding: If you are up for a really exciting sport to try out, you should go for paragliding. This is not a sport that is not for the faint of heart and is really for the bravest adventurers out there. The Buda Hills are a great place to enjoy this activity. You can even go tandem with a professional if you are not experienced in the sport and are not convinced that it is the safest sport to try out as a newbie. They offer courses even, especially through the company SiklóernyosTanfolyam. There are year-round courses available for paragliders of all levels, meaning that you can find classes from beginners all the way to the most experienced paragliders out there.
- Via Ferrata: This means “iron road” in English. Via Ferrata requires participants to attach themselves to iron railings along climbing routers. Typically these would be considered far too dangerous and impassable. The village of Cseznek in western Hungry has a number of these routes to try out at a variety of difficulty levels. There is also generally equipment on hand and available to rent.
- Trampolining: You might be a little surprised to see a trampoline on this list. But, the Cyberjump Trampoline Park is one of the largest facilities in Europe, coming in at 3,000 square meters. You can participate at this place in just about any intensity that you want. If you only want to jump leisurely, you can jump leisurely. If you want to engage in slamball, dodge ball, or bossa ball, there are places for those as well. There was even a ninja warrior track if you are looking for the most extreme experience possible.
- SUP Balaton: Strand up paddle boarding has become more and more popular throughout the world. It is a fun outdoor activity that can be as difficult as you make it. Staying upright on a board is not an easy feat and requires a lot of work. There is a SUP Center in Balaton where the paddle boards are available to rent so that you can try it out. There are also staff available to show you how to do it if you have not tried it out before. Additionally, there are also classes that you can take like SUP yoga, which, if you don’t know, is incredibly extreme. It is a trick to do yoga while balancing on a SUP.
- Hiking: The last sport that we will suggest you check out in Hungary is hiking. Hiking might not be hard everywhere, but the Mátra Mountains offer a healthy challenge for you. It also has the country’s highest peak, Kékestetö as well as the Danube Bend, Bükk National Park, and Lake Balaton.
Why not try out a new sport when you are visiting Hungary?
If you are a nervous about any of these, there are usually beginning options with professional guides to ensure that you are as safe as possible, even with a potentially dangerous sport. You will never know whether you will love a sport unless you try it out.
