Shocking – subtenant left a giant python in a Budapest apartment!
A subtenant left a huge, two-and-a-half-metre-long python behind after leaving the apartment he was renting.
Weirder and weirder things are happening in Hungary. Have you ever left your pet behind when you were moving from one place to another? It is highly unlikely; nevertheless, from the owner’s point of view, finding a cute little dog or cat in the apartment is not that bad. But what if you found a huge snake the size of a person? Would you believe your eyes?
Police searched for drugs but found dangerous animals instead
This is what happened in Budapest to a Hungarian man, Robi, who rented out his apartment to someone. He reached out to borsonline.hu to tell his story.
Robi was very unlucky. He had experimented for a very long time with several tenants who caused him smaller or bigger headaches. “I was constantly renting out my place and bumping into people who either did not pay the rent on time or did not maintain the apartment and left it in improper conditions”.
Then he finally found Feri, who always paid right on time and took care of his property. Robi was very surprised and happy that after all this time, he saw the light at the end of the tunnel.
Many months flew by when, suddenly, Robi stopped receiving the rent.
“After one and a half years, he suddenly stopped paying. I called him in vain, as he did not pick up the phone. I was trying for an entire week but then decided to take matters into my own hands and went to my apartment.”
He went on explaining that not only had his tenant disappeared, but his key was unable to open the lock. He called a workman who disassembled it so that he could get into his own apartment.
When he entered, he could not believe his eyes.
The apartment was a mess: everything was dirty, trash was lying around the whole place, even the walls were covered in mould.
Then came the worst part. He saw something moving in the corner where there was a kind of wooden box. He looked into it and
that is when he saw a huge python casually relaxing on the bottom.
“I was scared! It’s not every day you encounter an animal like this,” he said.
When he called an expert to get rid of the animal, he was told he had found a huge, two-and-a-half-metre-long python that kills by strangling its prey, instead of biting it.
It was extremely hard to take the snake away as, probably being very hungry, it wound around the professional’s hand and started to squeeze it. Moreover, it managed to sting him in some way, causing his arm to bleed.
The unbelievable and scary story finally had a happy ending. Robi’s girlfriend saved the day by bringing a huge trash bag in which the python was taken away. Robi was very happy, although renovating the apartment took several weeks afterwards.
“After this unbelievable story, I decided to sell my property.” We are not surprised at all.

Dare I ask what happened to the tenant?
My money says the snake made the tennant into a meal. Thats why he stopped paying the rent.
Seriously, there is NO legitimate reason anyone outside of a zoo should be allowed to have a snake like this breed as a pet. When they become too powerful the are often abandoned in nature where they become a big problem to the native wildlife like what is happening in the Florida Everglades or they fail to find warm shelter and they freeze to death in the winter . Daily News Hungary through its contacts inside the Hungarian Government should ask them why these predators are even allowed into Hungary or for that matter The European Union member states.
