Crazy drivers take over Hungary’s new highway – VIDEO
Several people have been driving against traffic on the newly completed section of the M30 highway. There was even a cyclist among the wrongdoers.
According to MTI, the unusual manoeuvres were recorded by traffic monitoring cameras.
The Hungarian National Infrastructure Development company’s latest project, the construction of the 60-kilometre highway section of M30 that connects Miskolc and Tornyosnémeti, has just been completed last Tuesday. Since then, several unusual activities have been recorded on the road.
Last Saturday, just a few days after the highway was handed over, someone already drove against the traffic at one of its sections. According to Hellómagyar, an 82-year-old woman from Kazincbarcika was initially driving on the correct lane but at one point she suddenly stopped and turned around.
She then proceeded to drive against traffic with high speed for 28 kilometres until she reached Hajmal.

On the very same day, also another person decided to go against the traffic, but this time, the driver even caused a collision. According to police information, the 59-year-old woman from Encs made matters even worse when she stopped and turned around twice before she finally drove off the highway.
While she was going against traffic, two Polish trucks were driving side by side each other. They attempted to pull over to avoid frontal collision with the passenger car, however, the two trucks slightly hit each other while trying to swerve.
According to Hellómagyar, both women have been suspended. The police have already revoked their driver’s licences and interrogated them as suspects.
This is why Hungary is among the TOP3 where it is the hardest to learn to drive
The representative of the Hungarian Public Roads asserted that it is the drivers’ responsibility to orientate themselves and decide where to enter the highway. He also mentioned that the digital screens on the new M30 section display important traffic signs to assist the drivers.
Hungarian Public Roads warns drivers to pay attention to the traffic signs at all times. Furthermore, they also advise drivers to keep their navigation devices up to date. These devices often do not recognise the construction of new roads, and thus they can misguide drivers.
The company also added that if the lane divider is on your right side, you are most certainly driving against traffic. In this case, the driver must pull over and call for assistance.
