This time the richest Hungarian billionaire’s company will renovate the Citadel in Budapest.

“This time, the consortium of ZÁÉV, which is owned by Lőrinc Mészáros, and Market, which belongs to the circles of István Garancsi, have been given a noble national project: they have to set up a flagpole in the closed area of ​​the Citadel.” – writes hvg.hu.

The production of a multi-element, upwardly tapering flagpole of varying cross-section will be a noble task. The 35 meters high flagpole will hold the national flag with the parameters of 6×12. According to the plans, motor structure will pull the flag into place. The company is also responsible for the construction of the built-in motor. The flagpole will stand on a block of reinforced concrete, and related diagnostic tests will also be part of the project. While the deadline is within 1.5 years, the flagpole has to be made by 14 March.

The public procurement took place in an open procedure, but only the ZÁÉV-Market pair applied. The companies claim HUF 5.3 billion for the work (EUR 14,620,957).

The Castle Headquarters Communication Office (Várkapitányság Kommunikációs Irodája) told hvg.hu that the amount will cover all the preparatory exploration of the development area, the reconstruction of the walls of the fortress, and the set-up of the flagpole.

Only 2 per cent of the entire budget will go to the flagpole’s construction processes. This means that the flagpole will cost HUF 106 million (EUR 292,419).
