The development of Budapest’s newest cultural centre continues in the Margaret Quarter. Within the framework of the project, thousands of plants will be placed along the Margaret Boulevard and its surroundings.
The Margaret Quarter is a revitalisation programme for Margaret Boulevard and its surroundings. As Margit Negyed reports, the aim of the project is to create an ecosystem in the area where community and cultural initiatives can find a place alongside quality commercial services.
Through this programme, the District II Municipality aims to encourage current and future service providers to work together and promote higher quality local, community or artistic assets, in order to create an even more diverse and vibrant neighbourhood in Inner-Buda, for the enjoyment of local residents and visitors. On the other hand, it aims to make the area more attractive to potential visitors or future entrepreneurs through a coherent image and programmes.
Within the framework of the project, the greening of Margit Boulevard will start soon,
with the planting of 3,248 perennial and 1,970 bulbous plants on the double side of Margit Boulevard and at least a dozen trees in the area – reported Második Kerület.
I hope they plant lots and lots of trees, including fruit, nut and fig trees if they can grow in that climate!
You clearly have never been to Hungary. In the countryside, fruit, nut and fig trees abound in this climate. I believe that the US has internet, why don’t you do some basic research?

As lovely as it is to have trees which produce fruit, if they are not meticulously tended by responsible people they attract rodents. Not only that but trees need to be trimmed, sprayed, fed etc to stay healthy and producing. If they get infested, say with aphids, it causes nectar to cover all areas beneath the branches & becomes almost impossible to get rid of. Aphids are born pregnant & reproduce every 20 minutes. Ugly slimy things that kill plants. City scaping with trees needs to be done very carefully, with good longterm results based in big part on choices taking into consideration the overall budget for care, the size, the mess created by them, the root type (which can be very damaging to underground infrastructure and sidewalks/roads….many things to consider for good success.
