Barack Obama welcomed Prezi’s Chief Executive

Hungarian businessman was welcomed by Barack Obama: U.S. president met Prezi software development company’s co-founder Chief Executive Árvai Péter, and the Adobe company’s representatives because these two companies joined the ConnectED educational program. The goal of this program, announced by Obama, is to make high-speed, broadband internet and high-speed, wireless connection available to every American student within five years.

In order to spread the 21th century’s classroom technology, Adobe contributes with a software and a software license worth 300 million dollars, and Prezi with their presentation software named EduPro worth 100 million dollars. The two corporations joined the line of the ConnectED’s sponsors following Apple, Microsoft, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Autodesk and O’Reilly Media.

Those community-funded schools will get Prezi’s aid which otherwise would not have the chance to obtain these technologies, said Árvai to the Hungarian News Agency (MTI). He also said: “What really fantastic in this whole thing is that from all of the big companies participating in the program, Prezi is the only one with a European background. We are very proud.”

Prezi is present on the American market for a long time. It was established in 2008 in Budapest, and the second office was opened in 2010, San Francisco. Their strategy was from the beginning to make the company successful in the American market, since, as Árvai claimed, “to build up a global company, we must be successful in the biggest market of the world.”

About the meeting with the president he said “it was very pleasant”, and that he can’t imagine that Obama had never seen the product before, since he knows so much details about it.

Prezi’s current goal is to make the software easily accessible on every existing technological platform regardless what kind of phone or computer it runs on. The presentation software started off Hungary is now being used approximately in 190 countries by 35 million people.
