Here are the Hungarian New Year’s Eve fireworks regulations
Firecracker are banned in Hungary. Fireworks can be used between 6 PM on 31 December and 6 AM the following morning.
The National Police Headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday that fireworks “classified as pyrotechnic class 1 and 2” can be bought all year round, but those classified as class 3 can only be bought between 28 and 31 December.
Fireworks in category 3 can be used between 6 PM on 31 December and 6 AM on 1 January. Unused or expired fireworks must be returned to the distributor within five days of New Year’s Eve, who must take them back free of charge.
As in the past, ficrackers are prohibited. Anyone who breaks this rule is guilty of an offence, punishable by a fine of up to HUF 150,000 (EUR 372), roviden.hu reports.
The exploded firecracker can cause extremely serious, even permanent injuries: limbs can be damaged and hearing can be impaired, the statement said.
