Budapest’s public transport significantly changes from 31 December!

According to the Budapest Transport Company’s recent statement (BKK), the capital’s public transport will undergo a massive change from tomorrow.

BKK aimed to call all passengers’ attention to the fact that on New Year’s Eve, all subways, local interest railways (HÉVs), and trams number 4 and 6 circulating on Budapest’s grand boulevard would commute all night. Furthermore, BKK is to increase the frequency of its night services, telex.hu wrote.

Metro line nr 1 will run with an extended operation time. Metro line nr 3 will only commute between the Kálvin Square and Kőbánya-Kispest metro and railway stations. The metro will not stop at Nagyvárad Square. From Kálvin Square, you will be able to take the M30 metro replacement bus to Újpes-Központ (Újpest centre).

On 1 January, Sunday, daytime service will follow the festive and holiday timetable. From 2 January until 6 January, the school holiday timetable will be in effect in Budapest due to the extended winter break inflicted by the energy crisis.
