The Danubius Hotel Hungaria, close to Budapest’s Keleti (Eastern) railway station, is to reopen on 23 February. Before, they closed the facility because of the soaring electricity and heating prices. They decided to reopen it because of the favourable occupancy forecasts of the hotel chain.
The Danubius Hotels Group decided to close Hungary’s biggest hotel having one short of 500 rooms. They said then that the closure would only last for four months, and they reopen on 28 February 2023. According to turizmus.com, they will do so earlier.
Located near the Keleti railway station, Danubius Hotel Hungaria is one of the best choices to spend time in the capital:
That is because they experience a positive trend regarding the hotel chain’s spring and summer occupancy forecasts. First, groups of foreign visitors tend to return to Budapest. Second, the Hungarian capital will host multiple international events in 2023, including the world athletics championships.
Balázs Kovács, the company’s CEO, said it was time to reopen the biggest Hungarian hotel considering the need to expand its capacities. He talked about a positive change in tourism. After the depression during the COVID, foreign and Hungarian tourist groups return to Budapest. Moreover, interest is growing in the cultural and sports events Hungary will host this year, he added. As a result, the 499 rooms of the hotel will reopen on 23 February.

Wondering just how many years before DHG declares that this particular hotel is continually making losses and the Group is selling it, and then we find out that Tiborcz’s BDPST is willing to take a risk and buy it.
