Unlimited travel for only HUF 150 in Budapest
People travelling in Budapest can purchase the discounted day ticket for HUF 150, entitling buyers to unlimited travel. The occasion of the discount is the anniversary of the BudapestGO travel planner app. The validation of tickets and passes in the BudapestGO application will also become much easier from March.
BKK (Budapest’s public transport company) announced that 2.2 million customers have already downloaded the app, which was used to plan 31 million routes by the end of December. 570,000 users have purchased a total of 4.7 million tickets and passes. It was also revealed that on 14 February, unlimited travel will be available on BKK lines for just HUF 150. On that day, BudapestGO turns one year old and the reason of the price is that Budapest turns 150 this year.

Easier use with NFC
The validation of tickets and passes in the BudapestGO application will become much easier. In March 2023, BKK will start to introduce NFC-based validation similar to contactless payment, according to Telex.
However, touch ticketing and pass scanning seem to be the best features so far. Up to now, this required scanning QR codes. From March, it will be even easier: just hold your phone to the machine.
According to the recent announcement, this is all you will have to do everywhere by May. Instant ticketing and pass scanning will be available in the metro area from the beginning of March. Then, the number of vehicles equipped with the technology will be extended as the weather becomes more favourable.
