Budapest launches new scenic downtown bus line
Bus nr 210 will commute from 1 May and will connect Svábhegy (12th district) with downtown Budapest, including the Deák Ferenc Square and the Gyöngyösi Str Metro Stations.
According to 24.hu, thanks to the new bus line, the 5th district of the Hungarian capital will become easily reachable from the so-called “Highlands” (in German Bergland) of the Hungarian metropolis. The bus will operate on weekdays and weekends, too.
Tourists and residents will be able to travel to the popular hotspots of the 12th district easier, which include the Normafa and the János Hill. The bus will drive through the emblematic Chain Bridge and the tunnel under Buda Castle. Furthermore, it will take its passengers through the illustrious Andrássy Street, Budapest’s Champs Elysées, 24.hu said.
No traffic jams, so the bus can commute
BKK, Budapest’s public transport company, highlighted that they could launch the new line because of the temporary traffic order of the Chain Bridge. Thanks to that, cars cannot enter Budapest’s oldest overpass, so no traffic jams halt the buses. The new bus will commute from the mornings until the evenings with a 15-minute follow-up time in the peak hours. That will increase to 20 minutes outside peak hours.
BKK said that the final bus line system of the 12th, 5th, and 1st districts would be aligned with the Chain Bridge’s traffic order. In the process, they will coordinate with the municipal councils.
BKK’s latest post concerning the issue goes: “new bus line on the Chain Bridge from May”
