The European Commission has green-lit a 1 billion euro Hungarian support scheme for businesses with higher energy costs incurred due to the war in Ukraine.
The scheme was okayed under the EU’s temporary crisis and transition framework in connection with measures to support key sectors aiming to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels, the EC said on Thursday. Under the Hungarian scheme, the higher gas and electricity costs of businesses are partially supported in the form of loans and guarantees. The scheme does not cover the financial sector or businesses considered potentially harmful to the environment, MTI wrote.
Hungary February guest nights down 0.4 pc
Guest nights spent in commercial accommodations in Hungary fell by 0.4 percent to 1,380,000 in February from the same period a year earlier, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Friday. The number of guest nights spent by domestic travellers dropped by 13.3 percent to 694,000, while foreign visitor nights increased by 17.3 percent to 686,000. Revenue jumped by 41.7 percent to 30 billion forints (EUR 80m).
