Former Ukrainian Deputy PM: Hungarians will feel ashamed when the war ends
Former Ukrainian deputy prime minister Oleh Rybachuk reacted to Viktor Orbán’s radio interview during which the Hungarian PM said Ukraine was a non-existent country financially. The former country leader said Hungarians will be ashamed when the war ends.

Orbán’s radio interview provoked a harsh reaction from the Russian and Ukrainian sides. Former Russian President Medvedev praised the Hungarian prime minister, while Kyiv condemned Orbán’s thoughts. Orbán said it was a question of whether “we” (i.e. the European taxpayers) sustain Ukraine because, without Western help, the country would have already collapsed. “We subsidise the Ukrainian pensions and salaries. Meanwhile, they slam the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia”.

Mr Rybachuk said Ukraine’s EU and NATO membership is approaching, and because of that Orbán’s rhetoric will soon change, index.hu wrote. It is likely that Orbán will visit Ukraine if Washington and Brussels’ pressure is successful, he added. The Ukrainian politician stressed that Hungary would never be a trustworthy ally, so Ukraine should seek other friends.
He also added that the moment the war ends, Hungarians will feel ashamed because no one can explain the country’s despicable policies. “Hungary is the perfect example of what other EU member states should never become”, Rybachuk concluded.
Ukrainian grain transports being monitored
Grain transports from Ukraine are being checked and sealed at the border, and only those in transit to other countries are allowed to enter Hungary, a state secretary of the agriculture ministry said at the border crossing at Záhony, in northeast Hungary, on Tuesday. After reviewing the implementation of the ban on Ukrainian grain imports, which the government announced on Saturday, Márton Nobilis said the transports were monitored throughout their journey across Hungary.
“Our aim is to protect Hungarian farmers from Ukrainian grain flooding the country,” he pointed out, adding that the ministry was mulling an extension of the ban to other food products.

With “friends” like Ukraine, who would need “enemies”?
The Fidesz government has ruined Hungary’s relationship with both the EU and NATO. The Hungarian government is not trusted by anyone anymore because of its’ constant obstruction in issues of vital importance to European security. The only conclusion that can be made is that the Russians have their hooks deep into Orban and the Fidesz party. Orban is making Hungary an outcast while pumping out propaganda to Hungarians to make themselves falsely believe that they are victims of malicious Western countries. It’s all Kremlin inspired. God help Hungary.
Pipe down, buddy. The Hungarian government is looking after the interests of the Hungarian citizens, first and foremost. I know that’s very unusual and even jarring at a time when most every Western country has been cajoled into a “Kiev First” policy and is basically writing out blank checks to Zelensky, but HUNGARY FIRST is how it should and must be. Besides, we all know Hungary is materially supporting Ukraine in the q.t. anyway

Again. We relinquish part of our sovereignty when we partake in international organizations and sign international treaties (EU, NATO, Ethiopian Double Tax Treaty). So “Hungary First” is OK, as long as it does not infringe the rights of others (i.e. the ones we committed to our international treaties and agreements).
of In the case of Ukrainian agricultural products, it is the EU that sets the import duties for the entire bloc. That’s how a trading bloc works. We (and the V4, generally) have legitimate interests that need to be taken into account, including our agricultural industry. Hungary and Poland have been very vocal on this issue – and it is now being resolved at the EU level (where we contractually agreed it belongs).
And … A little bit of critical thinking never hurt anyone. I appreciate and enjoy reading other people’s opinions, especially when it’s backed up with facts. It makes me consider points of view I may have not considered or where I have a (unconscious) bias – and sometimes it does make me do a 180!

Hungarians should celebrate peace when war ends in Ukraine. It will stop the killing of ethnic Hungarians as well as Ukrainians. Peace will further stop the destruction of a third world country. The Ukrainians make a huge mistake electing Zelensky, the man who sold their soul to Biden.
