MEP Gyöngyösi: How Orbán relates to war crimes
MEP Márton Gyöngyösi’s (Non-attached) thoughts via press release:
The International Criminal Court has recently issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin on account of the mass deportation of Ukrainian children. According to international law, the case of genocide may apply even without the commission of actual murders – if somebody commits acts that render the survival of a certain population impossible. Such acts include the unlawful deportation of children who are then raised in a different culture.
While posing to the West as the guardian of the traditional family, Fidesz downplays the suffering of the Ukrainians and the kidnapping of their children, and suggests that Kyiv should surrender to the Russian aggressor and accept a peace treaty under Russia’s terms.
Ever since the Ukraine war broke out, Fidesz has been demonstrating this outrageously cynical attitude. Not only does this policy isolate Hungary from the world, it is morally indefensible, too.
I wonder how long it takes for the western right-wing politicians who seem to believe Orbán is the defender of families and traditional values to finally understand the real nature of the Fidesz regime.

“Killing is a crime”. It makes no difference who does it or why. The UN called both Putin and Zelensky war criminals. Neutral countries do not interfere in foreign wars. Hungary decided to remain neutral. Switzerland, a neutral country is stopping Germany to export Swiss made ammunition to Ukraine in order to maintain neutrality. So far, Switzerland has not stated whether it would arrest President Putin or Zelensky if in Swiss territory. Hungarian Government’s, that is FIDESZ’s only duty is to protect the Hungarian people and that includes securing oil/gas supplies. It is time for Gyongyosi to put welfare of the Hungarian people first rather than foreign lands’.
@mariavontheresa:
“…and that includes securing oil/gas”, and making us pay double than we ordinarily would: “Az orosz importgáz februárban 124 euró/megawattóra áron érkezett Magyarországra – derül ki az uniós statisztikai adatokból. A mértékadó holland tőzsdén, a TTF-en a februári átlag 58,55 euró volt, ezek szerint a tőzsdei ár több mint kétszeresét fizettük az orosz hosszútávú gázszerződés alapján behozott energiahordozóért.” – https://24.hu/fn/gazdasag/2023/04/25/rezsicsokkentes-orosz-gazimport-tozsde/
Wow, I’m so lucky to have PM Orbán’s “FIDESZ” securing our gas (from his pal Putin).
Ps. I’m sure it would be nice for the other c. 134 Fidesz/KDNP elected Parliament members to feel that they too are involved in such important decision making, but let’s just be realistic, we still have (yet another) “State of Emergency”, and a rule by decree is in effect, or am I wrong?
There is an article today in the Daily News Hungary, that household energy prices are cheapest in Hungary. Someone is misinterpreting the data. Hope that the newspaper article is correct.
