Another Chinese city to have direct flights to Budapest
From mid-June, Shanghai Airlines, part of the China Eastern group, plans to operate one scheduled flight per week between Ningpo and Budapest, and from July two flights per week.
The flights between Ningbo Lishe International Airport and Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport will be opened in two phases, starting on 29 May and followed by two pairs of direct charter flights between the city in the Yangtze Delta region, in the northeast of Zhejiang province, and the Hungarian capital on 5 June. The first flight will arrive in Budapest at 21:40 local time on 29 May and return to Ningpo at 23:55, Airportal.hu said.
In the second phase, the airline will start operating the route once a week on Mondays from 12 June, and from July onwards, the service will be extended to two direct flights a week (Mondays and Thursdays).
The flights will be operated by Shanghai Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
The new air services agreement between the two countries will allow 42 pairs of flights per week between China and Hungary, including passenger and cargo flights, instead of the previous maximum of 21, details HERE.
Ningpo is the fourth Chinese city to be served by direct flights from the Hungarian capital. Air China currently connects Beijing (from 19 June) and Chongqing, while Shanghai Airlines connects Budapest with Shanghai.

How fantastic! I can now travel non-stop to Ningbo Lishe International Airport. Who wouldn’t want to go there!
It’s a pity our airport is finding it increasingly too hard to handle all the arriving flights around the same time slots.
We now see, baggage carousels unable to cope with all the luggage from the flights, and a/p workers have to go to the carousels and take off all the bags in order to allow those from another flight. In the meantime, passengers are nowhere near their luggages that were taken off, and anyone, just anyone, could walk away with other people’s bags. I’m already wondering how long it will take before I lose my bags because of the airport’s inability to cope with all the passengers arriving near the same time slot, or even within the same 60-90 minutes of a previous flight with a lot a passengers.
Budapest, Hungary – very important, growing in its IMPORTANCE to China, and in the developing relationships welcomed with Open Arms by Orban & his Government – an integral player, in the “new” Silk Road – where the East meets the West.
Why is there no direct flight from Budapest to any city in North America? New York and Toronto used to have direct flights. Is the Fidesz government trying to isolate itself from North America while setting up 42 weekly pairs of non-stop flights to China?
