Here are Budapest Airport’s tips for a seamless holiday!

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport in the capital is by far the largest and most important airport in Hungary. With millions of visitors popping by every year, they have to be ready at all times for any unwelcome problems and complications. One such thing they can prepare, however, is the large influx of visitors in the summer period.

Especially for this reason, the airport has made preparations for the summer peak season. They are now awaiting visitors with an adequate number of staff and quality improvement initiatives. Furthermore, they have published a list of tips and upgrades that will make the experience even more enjoyable for travellers, writes Budapest Airport.

Baggage tips

They emphasise the option of online check-in and pre-booking parking spaces, which can save both time and money. Additionally, there are 26 self-service baggage drop-off machines available at the terminals, allowing passengers to print their luggage tags.

Passengers traveling with only carry-on baggage and those who have completed online check-in and possess a valid boarding pass can enter the terminal directly through the main entrance near the 100E bus stop, bypassing potential crowding in the departure hall. The waiting time for security checks can be monitored on multiple displays and the airport’s website.

Arrival and security check

In their statement, they advise passengers to arrive at the airport at least two and a half hours before their flight departure to avoid any turmoil. Furthermore, they ask travellers not to bring along company, if possible.

Regardless of the airline and destination, passengers can access the transit area from both terminals 2A and 2B. Passport control takes place after the security screening for non-Schengen flights. During the security check, passengers no longer have to remove electric devices from bags. Also, there is a fast track lane available for eligible passengers (e.g., business class travellers) or those who purchase the service on-site.

At the airport

The airport operator has installed 13 water fountains at the terminals, allowing passengers to refill their own bottles. Families traveling with small children can use baby strollers free of charge from the security check until boarding. Additionally, there are five baby-mom rooms and three airport play areas. Along with a mini airport located in Pier 1, these were created to entertain young passengers.

Budapest Airport has prepared for the summer season with technological advancements, infrastructure improvements, and human resources upgrades. This was made in order to ensure the smooth handling of passengers and to provide quality services. As multiple partner companies are involved in the handling of travellers, the Budapest Airport has established service level agreements with them to ensure the compliance with the expected quality requirements.
