Budapest to welcome renewed Chain Bridge with a free festival!
On 16 September, Budapest is holding a bridge-opening festival in honour of the Chain Bridge. In addition to a number of concerts, there will be a variety of children’s activities and a historical exhibition.
Chain Bridge renewed, Budapest’s 150th birthday
Budapest has received a worthy gift for its 150th birthday: the renewed Széchenyi Chain Bridge, turizmus.com writes. The renovation work was completed a month and a half earlier than originally planned. Thus, the people of Budapest got their iconic bridge back in early August, as we reported HERE.
On 16 September, a free one-day festival will celebrate the symbol of the Hungarian capital. Popular Hungarian artists will be performing Budapest-themed songs throughout the evening at Clark Ádám Square at the Buda Bridgehead. Among others, Ervin Nagy, Bori Péterfy, Miklós Vecsei H., Anna Pásztor, Gigi Radics and Viktor Király will perform at the bridge-opening party.
The concert, starting at 7:30 PM, will be hosted by Simon Szabó, an actor and presenter, and will be preceded by a welcome speech by Gergely Karácsony, the Mayor of Budapest, Budapest Brand said in a statement.
“The Chain Bridge is a favourite symbol of Budapest: we take photos, walk across it and admire the panorama. Now that it has been renovated and renewed, we want to celebrate it with Budapest’s 150th anniversary in a fitting way. We are confident that with Budapest-themed songs and popular performers, we can offer a quality and beautiful evening where everyone can find their own entertainment. We would like to appeal to both Budapesters and tourists, travellers from the countryside or abroad,” said Csaba Faix, CEO of Budapest Brand Non-profit Plc.
