2024 motorway vignettes available from Friday in Hungary: here are the prices

From 1 December, you can buy next year’s motorway vignettes for Hungary’s motorways. Prices will increase by 18% on average: let us show you the new prices.
From tomorrow, 1 December, it will be possible to buy the 2024 annual national and annual county vignettes, valid from 1 January, Portfolio reports. These two categories are becoming increasingly popular with motorists. Well over 2.5 million units of these were sold this year, compared to just under 500,000 in 2020.
Motorists are increasingly turning to online buying the motorway vignettes, which has many advantages in addition to convenience. For example, it is possible to check whether a vehicle has a valid vignette by its registration number, and the owner will be notified before the expiry date. With this, they can avoiding penalties for monthly or 10-day vignettes, the level of which has not yet been officially announced, the statement of autopalyamatrica.hu said.

According to data from autopalyamatrica.hu, the popularity of county vignettes has skyrocketed, mainly due to the fact that the 10-day vignette has become proportionally more expensive in recent years. Putting tolls on the entire length of the M0 is going to drive traffic into alternative city roads causing more congestion and pollution. Arpad bridge will become overloaded if use of Megyeri bridge at the north end will require a vignette.
