VIDEO: Busy Budapest bridge to become a Christmas tree
A busy Budapest bridge will become a Christmas tree soon. Again.
According to origo.hu, turning the Megyeri Bridge in Budapest into a huge Christmas tree has become a tradition lately. This will be the third time it will greet drivers like that in the advent period. In practice, that will be Hungary’s tallest Christmas tree.
We wrote HERE about the country’s Christmas tree established and decorated near the Hungarian Parliament on Budapest’s central Kossuth Square.
Megyeri Bridge connects Buda with the M0 motorway circling Budapest, so it is not technically part of Budapest. But most residents of the capital and the suburbs working in Budapest use it.
The decorative Christmas tree lighting of the Megyeri Bridge will be visible between 3 and 31 December. Both bridge pylons will become one huge Christmas tree reaching 100 m in height.
Between 17 and 27 December, the Hungarian Public Roads (Magyar Közút Zrt.) will put a star finial on the pylon tops. During that period, they will place special decorative lighting on the glass parts.
Those aiming to snap Hungary’s tallest Christmas trees should come from the main road nr 2. From there, you can go on foot or bike under the Pest bridgehead.
