Problem surfaced regarding one-day motorway vignette in Hungary
The draft text of an amendment to the regulation on the introduction of one-day motorway vignettes has been published, which also sets the validity period and the price of the sticker. There is a catch with the new vignette’s validity.
The one-day motorway vignette will be introduced by the government, foreseeably at the end of March, following an earlier EU regulation. The draft text of the regulation is now available and the public consultation closed on 8 February, Economx reports.
It is already known that the D1 category one-day vignette will cost HUF 5150 (EUR 13.15) for a passenger car. At the same time, it is planned that we will have to pay 9% of the current price of the annual national sticker for the one-day sticker.
According to the text of the draft,
the validity of the one-day sticker will not be valid for 24 hours from the date of purchase, but from 0:00 to 24:00 on the calendar day indicated by the purchaser.
Totalcar notes that according to the draft, the amendment will enter into force on 1 March. However, this does not necessarily mean that the one-day vignette will be available from that date, as the amendment stipulates that at least 30 days must elapse between the publication of the agreed price and its entry into force.
The price of the one-day vignette has not yet been published on the website of the National Toll Payment Service (Nemzeti Útdíjfizetési Szolgáltató, NÚSZ). According to Totalcar, it is therefore possible that there will be a delay as compared to 1 March.
