The newest Hilton hotel in Hungary – and the first in the countryside of the country –, the Hilton Garden Inn Debrecen City Center will offer 101 rooms in the 4-star superior category. Facilities include an all-day dining restaurant with 45-50 seats, a sky bar with 35-40 seats, a roof terrace with 30-35 seats, a meeting room for 8-10 people, a fitness area, and a children’s corner.

According to the deputy mayor of the city, it won’t be long before the first Hilton hotel in the countryside in Hungary opens in July.

It is great news for tourism in Debrecen that Hilton will open its first hotel in the heart of the city in July, the Haon.hu reports, based on a Facebook post by Diána Széles, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen.

“Today, we agreed on a joint tourism cooperation with the hotel management and VisitDebrecen. Any hotel development will help us to attract more tourists. If there are a lot of guests, it also strengthens the local restaurants and attractions,” Széles wrote in her post.

Turizmus.com points out that the Hilton Garden Inn Debrecen City Center will offer 101 rooms in the 4-star superior category. As we reported earlier, facilities will include an all-day dining restaurant with 45-50 seats, a sky bar with a capacity of 35-40 guests and a roof terrace catering to 30-35 people, a fitness area, a dedicated children’s corner and a meeting room accommodating 8-10 delegates.

Progress on the construction front of the Hilton Garden Inn Debrecen City Center remains on track, with the technical handover scheduled for April. Now that we have updated information, the new Hilton hotel will officially open to the public in July.

At the topping-out ceremony in November 2022, it was shared that the aim from the outset was to build a modern and energy-efficient hotel in keeping with the historic city centre. At the time, Péter Horváth, CEO of the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ), stressed that Debrecen plays a key role in Hungarian tourism and that thanks to this development it will also play a key role in international business tourism.

According to turizmus.com, the planned market positioning at the Hilton hotel will be based on corporate individual guests (BMW and automotive companies servicing the German premium manufacturer, as well as companies already present on the Debrecen market) on weekdays, while on weekends, sales will focus on individual leisure visitors and smaller groups, depending on the hotel’s capacity.

The Hilton Garden Inn in Debrecen will be LEED (green building) certified. The certification process will ensure sustainable development and contribute to reducing energy, water consumption and emissions, Világgazdaság writes.

Last year, Haon reported that the value of the Hilton hotel project had increased slightly, from a net value of HUF 5 billion 554 million 493 thousand (EUR 14.099 million) to HUF 5 billion 588 million 354 thousand (EUR 14.184 million), due to additional works.
