Masterclasses by world-famous soloists and concerts will be on the programme of Kaposfest, an annual festival of classical music held in Kaposvár, in south-western Hungary, between August 12 and 16, the organisers said on Tuesday.
The opening night features cellist István Várdai and organist Szabolcs Szamosi. Further concerts will be held at six venues, accompanied by performances and panel discussions, film screenings, lectures and guided exhibitions.
Celebrated performers from abroad include violinists Alexandra Conunova and Kirill Troussov, pianists Lucas Debargue, Edith Pena, and Alexei Volodin, as well as viola player Razvan Popovici.
Among noted Hungarian performers will be violist Mate Szucs, pianist Zoltan Fejervari, violinists Kristáf Baráti and Júlia Pusker, harpist Anasztazia Razvaljajeva, and cellist Péter Somodari.
Further highlights of the festival will be a special concert by the Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra, an open-air performance by Lajos Sárközy and his Gypsy band, and another by the Budapest Jazz Orchestra.
