Orbán: Brussels wants to topple the Hungarian government
Change language:
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European People’s Party leader Manfred Weber are seeking to “topple the sovereigntist Hungarian government” and replace it with a “Brussels-style administration”, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told public radio in an interview broadcast on Friday.
Referring to the recent debate in the European Parliament before which he also briefed MEPs and EU officials about Hungary’s EU presidency, Orbán said contributors had “ignored the facts, were full of hate, and unbothered about Europe and the European people”. The debate, he added, was directed towards toppling the Hungarian government and replacing it with Klára Dobrev of the European Socialists, while the EPP wanted the Tisza Party and its leader, Péter Magyar, in the government.
Orbán said he had always believed that this was the goal of the two European leaders, but addressing it so blatantly instead of dealing with European affairs had been “unusual”. It was made clear they wanted this coalition, “and the marriage took place before our eyes”, he said. Both were ready to fulfil Brussels’ demands for Hungary to get involved in the war in Ukraine and back its migration policy, which would “let migrants in”, scrap family and child protection laws, and also enter economic and trade wars.
“Brussels wants to install a socialist and a people’s party representative in the Hungarian government to promote its chief aims, which are exactly what causes conflicts between Hungary and Brussels. Instead of sovereigntist Hungarian politics, we’ll have a Brussels government,” he said. The prime minister praised Hungary’s “very high-quality” presidency programme, adding that “very good staff” were working under the leadership of the minister for EU affairs János Bóka.
A high-quality debate about “why the European economy is in trouble, why the Americans and the Chinese are overtaking Europe … the problem with migrants and green transition” could have been had, except that contributors were “lusting after blood” and were uninterested in having a meaningful debate about Europe’s “biggest challenges”. “When ten people come at you, it’s rock and roll, so it was rock and roll,” he said.

“We are under attack!” Where have we heard this, before?
And … Let´s be honest. There are very few people (including politicians) who appreciate our Politicians as “polite, generous, well-mannered”. Everybody is dead wrong – except for our Politicians, of course. The adults in the room!
Apparently so do a lot of Hungarians…
Hungary needs to be liberated once again. As far as immigration is concerned as a Canadian I wish Hungarians migrants wouldn’t come here. They are leeches on our social welfare system and they don’t bother to learn the language. I can turn this whole debate around and point it at Hungary. The people that the Hungarian government abandoned in Miskolc and other poverty stricken areas who can’t read or write in their own language, who have deep social problems, a completely unhealthy lifestyle and not much in the way of work skills, have left Hungary and made refugee claims in Canada. Some are eventually deported, go back to Hungary and change their names and come back again. Hungary needs to take care of its’ own people and that includes the Roma community that it discriminates against and marginalizes in slums that nobody visits. When my physician wife went on a joint community with police in Hamilton, Ontario for people in distress the constable asked where she was from and she said Hungary and his response was “You are Gypsy?” Hungary sends its’ migrants all over the world.
Hungarians duly elected a majority FIDESZ government. It is their right. Larry, Norbert and Anonymous, you have been trying with the help of Brussels to topple the Hungarian government. You are pawns or lap dogs of Brussels. Whatever type of government the people of Hungary choose I hope that it will want to maintain the 1,000+ years if sovereignty and not be Brussels’ puppet.
The EU decided to rob the taxpayers at large of billions of euros and give it to Ukraine. The EU did not have and does not have common economic interest with Ukraine. So, why is lowering European taxpayers’ standard of living acceptable just so von der Leyen can keep hugging Zelensky?
Germans and Germany have done enough damage to Hungary. Hungary should ensure that Germany is handled as any enemy nation. Keep all Germans out of Hungary. Chinese tourists are much nicer and should be welcomed.
