Georgia marks Independence Day in Budapest with diplomacy, music, and heritage – photos

On May 29, 2025, a reception celebrating Georgia’s Independence Day was held at one of Budapest’s central venues, Pesti Vigadó.

The Prime Minister of Georgia H.E  Irakli Kobakhidze and the Minister for European Union Affairs of Hungary H.E. János Bóka attended the Independence Day celebration and addressed invited guests and diplomatic corps in their speeches.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia H.E. Maka Botchorishvili, Deputy Speaker of National Assembly of Hungary Dr. István Jakab and State Secretary for National Policy Lőrinc Nacsa were also in attendance.

In his speech, Prime Minister Kobakhidze highlighted Georgia’s 23-century-long statehood and the nation’s pride in its independence. He emphasized that the centuries-long struggle for independence is embedded in the genetic code of the Georgian people and continues to this day. Prime Minister Kobakhidze thanked Hungary for its strong support and expressed confidence that the friendship and cooperation between the two nations will continue to grow stronger.
