Attention: New parking regulations are coming into effect at Budapest Airport!
Renovations on the bridge and departures level at Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport have been completed, bringing with them a major overhaul of traffic regulations. The changes will roll out in two phases, with the most significant update being that, starting 15 August, private vehicles will no longer be allowed direct access to the arrivals level.

Drivers picking up passengers must now use the Terminal Parking area, located just a one- to two-minute walk from the terminal. According to Telex, this lot can be used once per day for free for a maximum of five minutes. Reserved for passenger pick-up, this new setup aims to streamline traffic flow on the arrivals side.

Interim period begins 8 August
Traffic changes will be introduced in stages, starting 8 August. During this temporary phase, only vehicles weighing up to 5 tons will be allowed on the departures level. Vehicles can stop parallel to the traffic island to let passengers out.
New rules effective 15 August
Beginning mid-month, only BKK-operated buses, taxis, NT-permit vehicles, official service vehicles, and cars displaying a disabled parking permit will be granted access to the arrivals level. Those with a disabled permit will be allowed to wait up to 20 minutes on the arrivals level and up to 60 minutes in Terminal Parking, free of charge.
According to an airport statement, the renovation project included replacement of the bridge’s waterproofing, drainage systems, and expansion joints, along with reinforcement of the bridge’s structure. Additionally, low-voltage cable routes were rebuilt and barrier islands were redesigned, improving traffic control efficiency.
The Route 100E airport shuttle service will remain unchanged, and tour buses will continue to use the designated bus terminal.

Airport operators say the revamped traffic system is designed to enhance safety and ensure smoother travel flow around the terminal, especially during peak hours when congestion is typically at its worst.
