Budapest’s Keleti station to shut for nearly a month — Here’s how train travel will change

Budapest’s Keleti railway station will be closed between 25 August and 20 September due to railway repairs, the chief of national railway company MÁV told a press conference on Wednesday.
Zsolt Hegyi said railway infrastructure components that have so far slowed traffic would be fixed or replaced during the shutdown. He said the Keleti project, worth 4.5 billion forints (EUR 11.4m) had been timed to cause the smallest inconvenience to tourists and commuters.
During the project, trains to western Hungary will leave from Kelenfold, while the Kőbánya Felső and Kőbanya-Kispest stations will serve the country’s eastern parts.
