ÉVOSZ shared positive news about building material prices in Hungary

Demand for building materials remained modest in the first half of this year, industry association ÉVOSZ said on Friday.
The building materials market has not recovered since 2023, Attila Juhász of ÉVOSZ said in a statement by the association. Competition intensified to the extent that prices fell 1.3pc year-on year in H1 2025, he said.
The home renovation subsidies available so far have not had the expected impact, largely due to complicated administration and the narrow range of eligible applicants, he added.
Money from SZÉP voucher cards and voluntary pension fund savings has not sufficiently stimulated demand, ÉVOSZ said.
ÉVOSZ expects that the projected recovery will not lead to a significant increase in building material prices as manufacturers still have major unutilised capacities.
