Wizz Air launches special flights: Where could we be flying?

Hungarian football is entering a new era: Wizz Air has become the official main sponsor of the men’s national team, and it’s not just about financial support. The airline is launching dedicated fan flights so Hungarian supporters can cheer on their team live in Lisbon and Yerevan.

Unique partnership: Wizz Air and the Hungarian national team

The partnership was announced on August 26, just ahead of the national team roster reveal, according to Turizmus.com. At the press conference, Wizz CEO József Váradi emphasised, “We are proud to serve as the main sponsor and as Hungary’s de facto national airline, to be part of the next chapter in Hungarian soccer. Sports build community, inspire, and connect—and that’s exactly what we do, linking the cultures, people, and economies of Europe.”

National team head coach Marco Rossi added, “It’s a tremendous honor to have Wizz Air supporting Hungarian football. Our fans’ encouragement is incredibly important for our success, so it’s great that more of them will be able to attend away matches.”

Wizz’s ongoing commitment to sports

The airline’s dedication to sports is nothing new: last year, it served as the official partner of Hungary’s Olympic and Paralympic teams in Paris. For over a decade, Wizz Air has supported an active lifestyle and running events, and has provided travel for the national team’s international matches for several years.

Now comes the special feature: Wizz Air is launching fan-only flights to make travel to the matches fast and comfortable. Here’s the schedule (flight, date, departure–arrival):

  • Budapest – Lisbon: 14 October, 12:10–15:15
  • Lisbon – Budapest: 15 October, 06:45–11:25
  • Budapest – Yerevan: 13 November, 05:00–11:15
  • Yerevan – Budapest: 14 November, 05:30–06:10

Tickets are already available at wizzair.com and via the Wizz Air app. How many Hungarian fans will take this opportunity to experience the thrills of the World Cup qualifiers firsthand? One thing is certain: the national team now has support from the skies, too.
