Hungarian luxury hotel among world’s best!

A lakeside hotel on Lake Balaton has captured international attention: the Hotel Petit Bois Füred in Balatonfüred has been named a finalist in the World Luxury Hotel Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious competitions. Each year, hundreds of thousands of guests and industry professionals vote to select the best luxury hotels across more than a hundred categories.

A historic villa reborn as a luxury hotel

The hotel operates in the historic Rodostó Villa, built in 1908 and now protected as a heritage site, Origo reports. The building has undergone a complete renovation that preserved its historic features while incorporating modern elements. The fusion of the classic villa and the contemporary wing creates a distinctive atmosphere that blends timeless elegance with minimalist modernity.

The name Petit Bois refers to the small woodland surrounding the villa.

Five-star comfort with a distinctive edge

This five-star superior boutique hotel offers just 13 exclusive suites, all furnished with Italian designer pieces. The bathrooms are finished with premium materials, including marble, oak, and limestone. Guests can enjoy a covered spa area featuring a pool, jacuzzi, and sauna, as well as a state-of-the-art gym.

For business travellers, there is an elegant meeting room, while the rooftop bar provides a spectacular panoramic view of Lake Balaton, ensuring a memorable experience.

Balatonfüred’s newest pride

Petit Bois opened its doors at the end of 2024 as a five-star luxury hotel following extensive reconstruction. During the transformation, architects focused on preserving the original design and aesthetic value while introducing expansions and functional additions in a modern yet discreet style.

The villa now features five refined apartments per floor and three garden suites, with interiors that highlight tradition and continuity. Natural stone and woodwork dominate, while the classic architectural structure defines the overall character of the space.

Hungarian successes in the global competition

In recent years, other Hungarian hotels have also achieved impressive results at the World Luxury Hotel Awards. Last year, for instance, the LUA Resort in Balatonfüred won multiple categories, earning titles such as the region’s best adults-only hotel and the country’s top spa resort.

The nomination of Petit Bois is further proof that the Balaton region is gaining recognition not only for its natural beauty but also for its high-end accommodation offerings on the international tourism map.
