For the fifth year running, the public cast their votes from five shortlisted routes, with this one capturing the top spot thanks to its enchanting woodland trails and long, exhilarating descents that leave a lasting impression. Along the way, cyclists can admire fascinating landmarks such as the military memorial near the Szálláskúti Hunting Lodge, the rugged cliffs of old stone quarries, the serene Fáni Valley, and the dramatic rock formation known as the Devil’s Pulpit.

Close behind in second place was the Szántódpuszta-Jabapuszta route, beloved for its tranquil atmosphere and proximity to Lake Balaton, remaining a strong contender right up to the final day of voting. Meanwhile, the Pilismarót to Kétbükkfa-nyereg stretch clinched third place, offering one of the most beautiful forest cycling experiences in the Danube Bend area.

Conscious cycling
The OEE’s programme aims to promote sustainable forest management while encouraging active lifestyles. It also highlights the importance of safety and respecting both written and unwritten rules for cycling in the forest to protect nature. To support this, they have published a guide titled Conscious Cycling in Hungary’s Forests, available for free download on their website.

Last year’s winner was the Farkasgyepű-Bakonybél route managed by Bakonyerdő Zrt., while in 2023 the championship went to the cycling paths winding through the Széchenyi Ecotourism Park Forest near Szolnok.
