Orbán cabinet: rapid rail link to connect Budapest Airport with the city centre

The government supports the construction of a rapid rail link between Liszt Ferenc International Airport and the centre of Budapest in the framework of a concession, Gergely Gulyás, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, said at a weekly press briefing on Wednesday.
Gulyás said the concession would be called in January and the project could be completed within six years. He added that the rail link, terminating at Nyugati station, would cut airport transfer times to 19 minutes.
The airport trains, to run every 5-10 minutes, are expected to carry around 33,000 travellers a day, he said.
The cabinet also decided to build the M86-M87 expressway, in the northwest of the country, in the framework of a concession, he added.
