Survey: Nearly four-fifths of Hungarians reject migrant quota
Budapest, May 25 (MTI) – Nearly four-fifth of Hungarians reject the “forced settlement of migrants”, according to a recent survey by Nézőpont prepared for the weekly Heti Válasz. Meanwhile, the poll also shows that the standing of political parties stagnated in May compared to April.
The date of a planned referendum on the migrant quota has not been set so turnout cannot be precisely projected, but it is estimated that around 62 percent of people will participate, Nézőpont said in a statement.
The survey, based on 1,000 phone interviews with a representative sample of voting-age adults in May, showed that 77 percent of Hungarians reject “forced settlement”.
The survey also covered party support in May, showing that among all voters, ruling Fidesz Christian Democrats had 30 percent support, radical nationalist Jobbik 12 percent, opposition Socialists 9 percent, DK 5 percent, LMP 3 percent, Együtt 2 percent and the PM party 1 percent.
