The first half of the week will see heavily overcast skies, with rain likely in many areas and strong winds keeping temperatures on Tuesday between 6°C and 11°C. From Wednesday, the chance of precipitation will diminish and temperatures will rise, with mostly sunny conditions expected by Easter Sunday and highs of 15-20°C, according to the forecast from HungaroMet Ltd, released to MTI on Sunday. On Monday, the weather will remain largely heavily overcast or cloudy. Rain and showers are forecast across much of the eastern two-thirds of the country, with the heaviest and most persistent downpours most likely in the southern regions, where significant accumulations could build in some districts; falls will be lighter and less widespread further west. Northerly or north-westerly winds will strengthen in many places, with gale-force gusts possible only around Lake Balaton and Sopron. Maximum daytime temperatures will generally range from 7°C to 13°C, a few degrees warmer in the north-east and east, but cooler where rain persists, the Hungarian News Agency wrote.

Tuesday will be predominantly overcast, with rain and showers expected in several areas, though the likelihood is lowest across the Alpokalja and Little Alföld. Northerly or north-westerly winds will freshen widely, turning gusty over western Transdanubia, the Bakony and around Lake Balaton. Temperatures will range from 1-6°C at dawn to 6-11°C in the afternoon.

Slow warming

On Wednesday, skies will stay heavily overcast or cloudy for much of the day, clearing from the north-east by late evening to leave weakly cloudy conditions in most areas. Scattered rain or showers are possible in places, but the risk will be minimal by afternoon. North-easterly winds will strengthen across many regions. Overnight lows will be 0-7°C, with afternoon highs of 9-15°C.

Thursday promises variably cloudy skies with several hours of sunshine, though isolated showers cannot be ruled out. Northerly or north-easterly winds will freshen in places, occasionally reaching gale force. Expect overnight temperatures of 0-7°C and afternoon highs of 10-16°C.

Good Friday will bring similar variably cloudy conditions with prolonged sunny spells, and the odd shower possible locally. Northerly or north-westerly winds will pick up at times. Lows overnight will be 1-6°C, with highs of 12-17°C.

Sunny Easter

Holy Saturday should be mostly sunny with scattered cumulus clouds, from which light showers may develop in spots. Northerly or north-westerly winds will freshen occasionally. Overnight minima will range from 0-7°C, with daytime maxima of 12-17°C.

Easter Sunday looks set to be mostly sunny with cumulus clouds, but dry throughout. South-westerly winds will freshen at times. Overnight lows will fall to -1°C to 6°C, with highs of 15-20°C.
