Hungary’s foreign minister meets Iraqi, Moroccan counterparts
Budapest, July 21 (MTI) – Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó had bilateral talks with his Iraqi and Moroccan counterparts on the sidelines of a meeting of the global anti-Islamic State coalition in Washington, DC, on Thursday.
According to a statement from the Hungarian foreign ministry, Iraq’s Ibrahim al-Jaafari will pay an official visit to Hungary in the autumn.
During their talks, Szijjártó and al-Jaafari agreed that Iraqi officers would come to Hungary in November to attend training on how to neutralise explosive devices. They also agreed that Hungary would provide scholarships to 70 Iraqi students to study at Hungarian universities starting in September.
Concerning the talks with Mbarka Bouaida, the Moroccan minister, the statement noted that Morocco supports Hungary’s candidacy to join the United Nations Human Rights Council. The two ministers also agreed that a direct flight should be launched between their countries as soon as possible and that Hungary would increse its exports of farm products to Morocco.
