Millenáris Park to be expanded – PHOTOS
Budapest, July 29 (MTI) – Work will soon start on expanding the Millenáris Park in the 2nd district in Buda, with a deep garage for 500 cars and landscaped gardens among the plans, the economy minister told MTI.
The designs for the 2.5 hectare site are ready and the procedure for obtaining the relevant permits is under way, Mihály Varga, the MP who represents the 2nd and 3rd districts of Budapest, said.
The park that replaces demolished buildings will also include playgrounds and a water recreation feature. Also two coffee houses will open at the site and charging for electric vehicles will be available, rehabilitating what had been a brownfield site. Environmentally friendly energy technology will be used to power the development.
Further, the rest of the 16-year-old Millenáris Park will be revamped with new paving and quality park installations, he said. An underpass will be created so that traffic along Fény street in the direction of Kis Rókus street is diverted underground.
Varga promised that the new developments would enhance various cultural enterprises connected to the Millenáris Park.
